I began to blog as a hobby while I lived alone during the Fall of 2010, truth be told, I didn’t like being alone. My friends and family live 40 mins away and I couldn’t go visit often. I was struggling with my finances back then, gas was expensive and paying my bills and having something to eat was far more important. Aside from my finances, my life was filled with love, joy and the type of happy stuff that has no price tag. Today I am still living a frugal lifestyle, because with the money I don’t spend on the stuff I go frugal with, I am able to put towards stuff that truly matters such as donating, gifting and saving.
I learned that Frugal does not mean cheap!
To this day my husband and I shop with coupons, make our own hand and laundry soap, cook and bake from scratch, go thrift/garage sale shopping and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We stopped gifting items to each other the moment we joined our lives BUT… We do splurge here and there on quality dates such as cooking classes, mini beach getaways and quality items we both want.
We are now able to help our church, family in El Salvador, and even some friends in need. Remember it is not about how much you have, but what you do with the little that you have that counts.
